Snacks on the go

Do you “fall off the wagon” when making food, beverage and snack choices while traveling?

You pull in for gas or a “pit stop” and the choices for snacks and beverages are often well below the wellness standard you try to maintain at home.

I am so thankful for the many great options Young Living offers to keep me hydrated and satisfied; and because of that, I find most convenience store choices less appealing.

  • One of my favorites is NingXia Red. In fact, if you toss a few of the single travel packs in the freezer, they make a great cold pop snack for the kids!
  • I love the Chocolate Coated Wolfberry Crisp Bars. They satisfy my cravings for chocolate and fill me up in a healthy way!
  • When I need some energy to keep going, I reach for a NingXia Nitro shot.
  • And for a cool refreshing burst of energy and taste, there is NingXia Zyng.

These are just a few of my favorites. But there are a lot of great options available. And get this: I rarely have to purchase these items, because I save up my product points and get them for free!

In my newsletter called Oils On The Go, you also will find other suggestions for making better choices when you are on the go or traveling. And you can contact me to learn how to get free products.

Healthy Eating for Managing Your Weight

family-cooking

Making good food choices is the first step toward taking control of your health. But when you want to drop some pounds, what you put in your mouth becomes even more important.

The challenge is to give your body the nutrients it craves without adding empty calories. Fats and sugars are the big offenders most of us have difficulty controlling. Once we have become addicted to them, we crave them even more if we deprive ourselves of them.

One tip is to gradually reduce the portions you eat of those foods that feed your unhealthy cravings. And then at some point you might decide to totally eliminate certain foods for a period of time. For example, avoid deserts six out of seven days of the week. Or stop eating chips and junk foods for a month. After a month, you may discover these foods hold less control over you and you are more motivated by the results you see in the mirror.

Find healthy snacks to substitute for those empty calories. Young Living’s Slique® products were designed to empower you to manage your weight so you can have the vitality you need to live your best life. Young Living’s Slique Bars are a great choice to consider! They are delicious and high in fiber, so that helps you stay full longer!

Portion control also should spill over to the healthy food choices you are making. For example: Limit the amount of meat you consider a serving. Three ounces of lean meat is equivalent in size to a deck of cards. This would be an appropriate serving size if you are desiring to cut back on portion sizes.

During the past few weeks I have shared other ideas and products that may help you in this journey. you also may want to check out my recent newsletter dedicated to the topic of weight management.

I often meet folks whose health is declining rapidly and they are grasping for a quick fix. Sadly, our desire for instant gratification has trapped a lot of people in a lifestyle that they can’t seem to escape. They are addicted to foods that are leading them down a very unhealthy path.

I am also a victim of the same cravings for the wrong foods that others have. It takes will power to turn away and not grab that easy, tasty junk food to satisfy your taste buds in a weak moment. One thing that really helps is to have healthy food all cleaned and prepared to snack on. Come on- get to the store and buy some healthy food. Then by-pass the inside aisles where all the junk food is located.

It’s not always feasible to eat all this fresh produce, so you might also want to keep some of these delicious options on hand for when you are out and about.
