Traveling Light with Essential Oils

Many years ago I discovered how helpful essential oils are in my overall wellness journey. As a seasoned traveler, I wanted to find ways to carry these oils with me everywhere I go. I started to look for innovative ways to carry the most health in the smallest space possible. I started by creating a compact assortment of some of my favorite essential oils. Soon I had created a collection of about 50 tiny bottles that fit nicely in my TSA approved quart baggie while still leaving room for a number of personal care items. Once a TSA agent held up my baggie and told me, “Now that’s the way to do this!” I smiled.

I admit, I don’t always take 50 oils with me, but the bottles are filled and ready for me to select the ones I want to take on any given trip or outing. I’ve learned how to fill small containers with some of my favorite products. For example, I fill empty Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier bottles for my shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, lotion, etc. They are a perfect size and save so much space in my quart baggie.

This month’s Share Scents Newsletter has many ideas of products that are important to include on your packing checklist so that you are always supporting wellness, even when traveling. Here’s the link for the Traveling Light Newsletter.

Be the best you… Be Savvy

Could I share from my heart with you? For quite a few years I was in a very dark place in my health journey. I dedicated a great amount of money and energy to reversing years of complicated health challenges. Something had to give, and the sacrifice I made was skin care. I stopped wearing makeup partly because I chose to dedicate those dollars to my health and wellness. But also because I could not find products that agreed with me.

Until last summer when Young Living released it’s brand new clean makeup line of products called Savvy Minerals. So I decided to give it a try. And then… I fell in love with my new younger look and feel. The coverage of wrinkles and age spots was impressive, even on my first attempt at putting on the makeup. I started to enjoy my new look and the confidence I felt.

So, I started to talk about it to friends and even developed some training about Savvy Minerals. If you are interested in a personal consultation, please contact me at www.ShareScents.com

In the meantime, check out this newsletter giving a brief overview of the new Savvy Minerals by Young Living: Savvy Newsletter 17-12 SS

Health is a lifestyle

Wouldn’t you agree that most people want to be healthy?

Do you also think that most people aren’t as healthy as they would like to be?

Would you like to be healthier than you are today?

Over the past 40 or more years, I have worked very hard to climb out of what was a very UNHEALHY lifestyle that had me in a deep hole that I did not want to be in. As I studied and applied what I learned, it was very hard to overcome longstanding bad habits that were negatively impacting my wellness. It has been a long journey and I still have a long way to go. But I am so much better today than I was 20 years ago.

One of my passions is to help others by sharing what I have learned in order to make their wellness journey more successful. One thing I learned is that health is a lifestyle. You can’t just slap an oil on your skin or take some supplement and everything is suddenly all better! It just doesn’t work that way. That’s why I dedicate so much energy into to educating about wellness and a healthy lifestyle.

You have to start someplace and I love helping people (you) find your starting point or to help you discover a few missing pieces to aid you in a journey you already are on.  If you would like to visit with me about your healthy lifestyle, whether you want some ideas for improving your journey, or how to change directions to start that journey, I’d love to help. Fill out a request to contact me through my Share Scents website and we will talk!

Supporting your body with essential oils

For the past several weeks we have talked about a few basic things everyone should know before using essential oils. Now, let’s briefly look at 10 essential oils that are in my personal self-care kit and how they can be building blocks to support every part of the human body.

Muscle and Bone Support

PanAway – One of my favorites after exercise when my muscles are sore, or if I get a boo-boo that hurts! It has a safety cap, so that reminds you to use caution with small children.

Copaiba – Supports overall wellness, before and after a workout especially on moving parts. It has a very light aroma, so is especially nice to use in a gym.

Digestive Support

Peppermint Vitality – A great addition to your water. But remember it is very potent, so just one drop in a gallon of pure water is sufficient. If you have a gurgling tummy, take a drink of your peppermint water and then tap your cheeks. It’s amazing how good you feel after doing that!

DiGize — Is very supportive to the intestinal system. Rubbing a drop between the thighs or on the abdomen provides comfort if you eat too much and feel a little upset.

Respiratory Support

Thieves Vitality – A great dietary supplement to support overall wellness, particularly during times of the year when we need to enhance our respiratory system.

RC – Makes a wonderful partner to Thieves to provide respiratory comfort. Diffuse it to provide a comforting atmosphere, or rub it on the feet or chest for direct absorption into the body. Asthmetics should use it on the feet and not on the chest.

Immune Support

Lemon Vitality – This simple and lovely oil has so many benefits and uses, but one that is often overlooked is how it supports a healthy immune system by helping improve pH balance in the body. It is a great addition to water.

Purification – Breathing clean air is so important when thinking of staying healthy. Diffusing this oil is literally a breath of fresh air! Not only are you helping clean the environment, but imagine how it is purifying the inside of your body as you absorb it’s wonderful benefits.

Skin and Emotional Support

Lavender – Known for its benefits to promote relaxation, it can be a great addition to a soothing bedtime bath. The additional benefit is how supportive it is to the skin. There are hundreds of ways to use Lavender. These are just two ideas.

Frankincense – The “king” of all oils. It is very widely used in many skin care products and seems to magically support the appearance of the skin. You can also diffuse or breathe it in to promote grounding and purpose when you want to connect with God.

You cannot put a price on your health or your happiness. So why not check out these amazing essential oils and get them at a huge discount? Learn more in my newsletter called Journey with Essential Oils. You can request our copy by emailing me at Joyce@ShareScents.com.

Seedlings Shampoo and Baby Lotion

Two more wonderful additions to the Seedlings line of products are the new Seedlings Baby Wash and Shampoo, and the Seedlings Lotion.

There’s nothing like the smell of a baby’s freshly washed skin. Bath time can be even more soothing and sweet with the scent of Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo. It is lightly scented with the Calm blend of pure essential oils—featuring Lavender for its soothing, calming aroma. It is an extra gentle formula that leaves skin and hair clean, soft, and smooth without over-drying. Plus, it is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and vegan friendly. Watch for this exciting tear-free product to be added to the Seedlings Line soon! You’re going to love it!

Our love of lotion begins early in life. We love skin that is soft, hydrated and smells pleasant. Young Living’s gentle moisturizer is specially formulated for infants’ delicate skin. This non-greasy lotion supports moisture barrier function and smoothly absorbs into a baby’s skin, leaving it moisturized, soft, and smooth. It’s made with skin-nourishing ingredients and a Lavender-infused essential oil blend. I love the light fragrance of this lotion and wouldn’t mind using it on myself! Just saying…

Keeping your baby clean and dry

Keeping your infant clean and comfortable can be a challenge sometimes! Well, OK, lots of times. If you are a parent of a newborn, you know how challenging a “blow-out” can be! Sometimes you have to bring out the big guns to clean up the mess!

Have you thought about what chemicals are in the disposable wipes you are using? And for that matter, are you sure they are leaving your baby’s skin clean and protected?

Young Living Seedlings has two wonderful products you are going to fall in love with immediately.

Seedlings Wipes are generously sized for the biggest messes at feeding or diapering time. They smell great and are 100% safe for your baby’s skin.

And then there is the Seedings Diaper Rash Cream. It is registered with the FDA as an Over The Counter medication, and does an amazing job at relieving, preventing and treating diaper rash.

And on a side note, both these products are great for everyone in the family. I love the Wipes for removing makeup. The Diaper Rash Cream will soothe and protect the most sensitive areas of any body, no matter what age! I do love how versatile Young Living’s products are. Seriously, you really need to get them!

I have published a special newsletter called Seedings: From Mother Nature’s Nursery to Yours. If you don’t have a copy of it, please send me an email and request the Seedling newsletter by name! You’ll love all the information it contains and will want to keep it for future reference.

Seedlings Baby Oil

One of the first products your baby receives in a gift basket at the hospital is Baby Oil. Did you do your homework and discover what ingredients it contains that you probably don’t want to be putting on your newborn (or yourself, for that matter)?

In contrast, Young Living’s Seedlings Baby Oil is formulated specially for an infant’s delicate skin. This mild, gentle product contains 100 percent pure essential oils diluted to an appropriate strength, and its naturally derived, plant-based formula is lightly scented with our Calm blend of Lavender, Coriander, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, and Geranium. Check the ingredient list to see how it compares to the other brand. Go back to the Environmental Working Group’s website and I know you will be pleasantly surprised at how clean the Seedlings Baby Oil really is!

The non-greasy formula moisturizes, soothes, and nourishes a baby’s skin. It absorbs smoothly; provides a light, calm aroma; and promotes a relaxing environment. Formulated without mineral oil, it is vegan friendly and suitable for everyday use. It is also dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic.

Seedlings Baby Oil is formulated with “dry” carrier oils that moisturize and absorb quickly and thoroughly into the skin, leaving a baby’s skin soft, hydrated, and smooth after applying.

Establishing a bedtime routine is very important in helping your baby get used to and look forward to restful sleep. Seedlings Baby Oil can be applied using baby massage techniques for sweet bonding with your little one.
