Boosting masculinity and confidence…

Last week we talked a little about scents men prefer and that often those are different from the scents women enjoy.

Scents are all around us. They are part of nature. So if you can find a scent that appeals to men and supports overall wellness and then include that scent in some amazing products that are used regularly, it would be a win-win! Right?

Gary Young from Young Living Essential Oils spent many years researching and working on that challenge! The result was a scent he called Shutran™, named after a fictional character in his book The One Gift.

Shutran™ is an empowering essential oil blend specially formulated for men to boost feelings of masculinity and confidence. It is perfect for use as a cologne that appeals to both men and women and is also the scent found in an entire line of products designed for men.

  • Essential Oil – Boosts feelings of masculinity
  • Bar Soap – Vegan-friendly, with a creamy lather
  • Shave Cream – Delivers close, smooth shave
  • After Shave Lotion – Freshens and calms your skin
  • Beard Oil – Softens and conditions your beard

Oh, and by the way, my husband does like Shutran™! And Shutran™products can make great gifts for the men in your life!

Men are from Mars… Or so they say!

My husband is the inspiration for today’s blog post. First, you need to know that he says he doesn’t like the smell of most essential oils. However, he is a researcher and is always sharing with me information that he finds about the benefits of essential oils.

He has two go-to essential oils: Oregano and Tea Tree. And he does like the Young Living Thieves Spray.

It’s no secret that women seem much more drawn to essential oils than men, but there are certain smells that men prefer over others.

For example, most men really LOVE Idaho Balsam Fir and other scents of the forest like spruce. What I find interesting is that Balsam Fir essential oil has properties that are very supportive to the male endocrine system. I wonder if there is an inner compelling need that draws them to that scent? Do some research and you may discover some things you never knew before!

If you would like to learn more about how men do essential oils – what scents and products are most liked or beneficial for men – check out my newsletter called Bearded Brawn.

My personal care favorites

In the past few articles we have discussed some things to consider when caring for our skin. We talked about things like chemicals that can derail us in our health and beauty journey. We also looked at some essential oils that many women have found helpful to add a glow to their face.

If you think about it, Queen Esther soaked in Myrrh for six months and then other spices and oils were added to the regimen for another six months! REALLY? Yes, really! And the result was, she won the most famous beauty contest of all time!

Now I must admit that for many years I have been on a wellness journey that demanded I focus on internal health. So dedicating dollars to beautify my face and skin was a lower priority… Just being real here.

But ladies, there is nothing wrong with giving some attention to caring for our skin. After all, it is your body’s first line of defense. It is your largest organ and is as much as 15% or more of your total body weight.

Caring for your skin is important. So why not use the very best products available? Here is a very short list of my some of my favorite skin care products from Young Living Essential Oils. They are highly concentrated and therefore, very economical over the long road.  These are only a handful of the many awesome products available. You can visit my website and read my Women’s Personal Care newsletter to learn more, but this is a great place to start:

  • ART® Skin Care System (cleanser, moisturizer and toner)
  • ART® Renewal Serum
  • Sheerlumé™ Brightening Cream
  • Genesis Hand & Body Lotion
  • Rose Ointment
  • L Brianté™ Lip Gloss

Beauty beneath the surface

Every woman wants to look good. NO. Every woman wants to look AMAZING!

We pour money into products to cover up our flaws and accent our best qualities. We long to gaze in the mirror and have it answer back that we are the fairest of them all. Well, let me share a couple of secrets with you.

First, beauty is not skin deep. It starts inside our bodies. What we put IN our bodies will ultimately determine the glow on our skin. I always tell people that if you are having challenges on the surface of your skin, you should probably take a look under the hood. Talk to your healthcare professional about what might be the root cause of your problems. Keep feeding your body healthy food. Get moving (exercise, UGH!). Clean up your environment. And eliminate as many harmful ingredients from your personal care regimen as possible.

THEN you are ready to add healthy options for skin care. My Women’s Personal Care newsletter has some great suggestions to consider, so get a copy and see where you might be able to augment your beauty care stash!

Would you love to have glowing skin? Well, check out this list of some amazing essential oils that are simple to use and produce amazing results. Here is the trick. You are going to want to identify what type of skin you have. Then, pick a few essential oils that address your particular needs. Next combine just one drop of two or three of the oils you selected with an organic oil like jojoba or coconut oil (say 50/50) and gently massage them onto your face each night at bedtime. You will be amazed at the results.

So here is a very short list (There is a longer list in the newsletter):

  • Lavender (cleanse)
  • Geranium (hydrate)
  • Frankincense (smooth fine lines)
  • Sandalwood (balance)
  • Myrrh (just plain good!)
