The dangers of cigarette smoking are widely known and accepted. Often people desire to stop smoking but have difficulty doing so because of the addictive properties. Many people are turning to natural alternatives, and e-cigarettes are becoming quite popular. One person I know has been using e-cigarettes and informs me the major component in them is essential oils. Although I am not a smoker and have not personally researched this, it seems to me that essential oils might be something to consider if you are looking for a natural alternative.
A study was done last year by members of the Department of Medicine at Srinakharinwirot University, Nakhon Nayok, Thailand. In this study, fresh lime juice was compared to nicotine gum for its effectiveness in reducing cravings. Their conclusion was that fresh lime can be used effectively as a smoking cessation aid, although not as good as nicotine gum in reducing cravings.
Where I live, fresh, good quality organic limes are sometimes not available. I got to thinking, why not consider lime essential oil? Essential oils are very concentrated, and easy to use. A drop or two in a glass of water can give a fresh flavor to the water and may offer additional health benefits. A little research on the internet will give you quite a list of benefits of citrus oils!
Young Living also has a very powerful blend called Stress Away that contains Lime oil. It is one of my most favorite oils! Since people often light up a cigarette when they feel stressed, I wonder if this blend might offer a powerful, yet natural alternative? I surly would be interested to hear your results using Stress Away blend.
Some other oils you might like to research for their calming and uplifting qualities include Chamomile, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage. I encourage you to do some research and see what natural options you may wish to consider.
