This weekend I spent a couple of days working in the sun. I got a good amount of sun, but thankfully not a serious burn. It reminded me to share my favorite recipe for a natural sunscreen that works extremely well!
Bur first let me share some valuable background information from Young Living Essential Oils Crown Diamond Cherie Ross: “Certain natural vegetable oils and Essential Oils have been found to provide some protection against the sun. Sesame oil can block or reduce about 30% of the burning rays; coconut and olive oils about 20%, and Aloe Vera inhibits about 20%.YL Helichrysum Oil has been researched for its ability to effectively screen out some of the sun’s harmful rays.”
So here is MY favorite recipe for Sunscreen:
- 4 oz of Avocado Oil (be sure it is organic)
- 30 drops of YL Lavender
- 10 drops YL Helichrysum
- 3 drops YL Roman Chamomile.
Mix and apply. I like to pour some into a smaller container for easy application.
Remember, this is not waterproof, so you will need to reapply after swimming!
And here is another Sunscreen recipe from the Young Living Blog…..
Now, if you do get too much sun, a great product to soothe the burn is Young Living’s LavaDerm Spray. The spray is nice when it hurts too much to touch a sunburn or a burn. I also have just used more of the sunscreen to soothe and heal if not too tender to touch.
